On Oct 4, 2008, I spoke at Dwight Baptist in Gadsden, Alabama. the ladies had the fellowship hall arrayed in an eyecatching fall theme. There I was surprised to see many people I already knew; I also met many other beautiful ladies. I reminded the attendees God wants us to "Laugh often, Love much, and Live well." The next weekend, Oct. 11, I spoke at the Woman to Woman Breast Cancer Survivors' Luncheon in Gadsden. " Was it appropriate to share funny stories with ladies who had, or are having, a very dark time in their lives?" I asked myself. Then I realized that if I truly believed what I say so often - Laughter is good medicine - then yes, I should do what I normally do. They laughed heartily at my funny stories as though they were starved for humor. Praise the Lord! They were a great inspiration to me with their positive spirits. Oct. 17 - 18 I spoke at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Pell City, Alabama, for the Winter Wonderland Southern Ladies' Retreat. Wow! What a spiritual revival that proved to be. It was great in early fall to be in a setting of snowflakes and other wintery decorations. Again, I came away with more than I gave. Every lady who gave a testimony, or sang a song, or participated in skits touched my heart. I hope I spread God's joy, glory, and love to them as well. We were reminded that even in the stormy times in life, God brings great beauty.
Well, one more October weekend to go. October 25th I am scheduled to speak in Gadsden at the Celebrate Life Banquet at Bellevue Baptist. I pray God will bless that event as he has the others this month. Yes, the month is full of the Lord's delights. Continue praying God will use me to encourage, to entertain, and to inspire people wherever I go. |
